The current humanitarian disaster in Ukraine has triggered a wave of sympathy among Kiwanians throughout the district, in the same way it has among the entire population.
After all, we would not be Kiwanians if we had not reacted immediately, rolled up our sleeves and organized the necessary help.
The individual initiatives of the clubs are innumerable and are mainly aimed at helping the population left behind in Ukraine and the refugees on its borders.
Below we illustrate some of the initiatives, but we are convinced that there are many more. We are keeping track of them all in a list, which we will add to over the weeks and months.
My message to all Kiwanians: “Thank you and keep up the good work because ‘Together We Can!
After consultation with the President of Kiwanis International Europe, the President-Elect, the Ambassadors of the Kiwanis Children’s Fund, and in cooperation with the Governor of Romania, the Kiwanis Children’s Fund in Europe has decided to launch a campaign to help the refugees from Ukraine. The logistics are being prepared and Kiwanis clubs in Romania are already working at the border to receive and help the refugees. They will also take care of the distribution of donations!
Thank you very much for the quick and positive response to the request of the European Kiwanis Children’s Fund to help the refugees at the borders of Ukraine with their basic needs: food, shelter, heating. To date, donations amount to €877,523, of which 74,000 will benefit the Belux district.
