HISTORY OF KIWANIS BELGIUM – LUXEMBOURG

In Belgium, it began in 1963 when Henri Janssens and Noël Anselot fired the starting gun for the first Belgian Kiwanis club at the Ravenstein restaurant in Brussels. The club, whose godfather club was Kiwanis Los Angeles, was named “Kiwanis Club No. 1” and, along with Vienna, was the first Kiwanis establishment in Europe.

The District Belgium Luxembourg has 192 clubs with nearly 3.900 members who volunteer 185.000 hours each year. About 3.700.000 € per year is donated to targeted projects.

The district was at the cradle of the Kiwanis rag dolls, the monumental K-Dolls, an intense collaboration with Special Olympics and numerous initiatives in the field of both mental and material assistance to children.
